TAFR contributed a total of $13,950.00 in Charitable
Donations in 2010.

Below are the First Responders who were able to
benefit from all the charitable activities of the
Texas Association of First Responders.

TAFR will continue to contribute to other injured
First Responders as the need arises.

Without the help, support and tremendously hard
work of everyone involved with TAFR none of this
would be possible.

College Station police Officer Tracy
Sheets was responding to a call of
vehicles racing when a Maserati
failed to make a curve and crashed
head-on into her.  Officer Sheets
after the crash and suffered a
broken ankle and pelvis; both of
which required surgery.  TAFR was
able to donate a check in the
amount of
$1,500.00 to assist in
Officer Sheets recovery.
HPD Officer Frank Pierce was shot
in the abdomen during a
confrontation with burglary suspects
at an area apartment complex.  He
saw a suspicious individual carrying
a flat-screen TV out of a unit on the
third floor.  He confronted the
suspect and ordered him to the
ground.  While that suspect was
down, a 2nd suspect came out of the
unit. Police said there was a
confrontation and the suspect
pulled out a weapon, shooting
Pierce.  TAFR was able to contribute

$1,500.00
to aide in recovery costs
for Officer Pierce.
Border Patrol Agent Adelaido Martinez
was severely injured in a car accident
while on duty near the Falfurrias
Texas Border Patrol Station. TAFR
made a donation in the amount of
$1,500.00 to Agent Adelaido Martinez
to assist in his recovery.
TAFR purchased $450.00 worth
of meal tickets from H.C.D.O. in
support of the benefit they held
for one of their own injured
H.C.S.D.
Harris County Deputy Andy Sustaita
was responding to a weapons
disturbance in North West Harris
County.  Deputy Sustaita observed
three men carrying what observed to
be automatic weapons.  Upon exiting
his unit he injured his shoulder.  
Despite being injured and in pain he
was still able to detain the suspects
and clear the call.   He subsequently
had to undergo surgery to repair a
torn rotator cuff.  TAFR was able to
contribute
$1,500.00 to assist in the
financial burden of recovery for
Deputy Sustaita.

President Joe Matthews
Deputy Bettin was shot in the
line of duty 09/14/10 during an
attempted bank robbery.  Joe
Matthews attended a fund raiser
for Deputy Bettin and presented
him and his family with a check
for
$1,500.00 from TAFR.
HPD Officer, Isidro Perez, a
23-year veteran  had just finished
writing a ticket on the Gulf
Freeway near the Monroe exit
when he was struck by a loose
tire from a passing tractor trailer.
 TAFR presented Officer Perez
with a check for
$1,500.00 to
assist in his recovery.
Harris County Constable Randall
Turnage was seriously injured
July 21, 2010 when his
motorcycle collided with an
overturned vehicle on Hwy 249.  
TAFR donated
$1,500.00 to help
defray Constable Turnage's
medical costs.
