The 1st Annual Charity Wild Game Cook-Off, held
April 1 8- 19, 2009, was a big success.  With the proceeds
that were raised TAFR made their first charitable donation
to The 100 Club of Houston in the amount of $6,500.00.

Texas Association of First Responders hosted a fund raiser on
August 29, 2008 for Houston Police Officer Joe Pyland, who was
injured in the line of duty on the Katy Freeway service road at
Hwy 6
on Sunday, June 29, 2008.

This was a very successful event; thus resulting in being able to
present Officer Joe Pyland with a check in the amount of
$16,002.11.
Specials thanks go out to the to the companies (Energy Quest,
Prasek's Hillje Smokehouse, Glazier Foods and Artic Ice) who
donated funds and products to assist in the expense of putting on
this benefit.

There were also many men and women who donated their time and
hard work to make this all possible who also deserve thanks.
A live auction was held during the 2nd Annual Charity Wild Game
Cook-Off on April 17, 2009 and all the proceeds raised from the
auction were for the benefit of Harris County Sheriff Deputy
Terrence Leonard who was injured in a motorcycle accident while
escorting a funeral procession.  

Texas Association of First Responders proudly presented Sheriff
Terrence Leonard with a check in the amount of $5,250.00.
